September 2005 - Present
This page is about Squeaky. Squeaky was our first kitten, and he was only 13 weeks old when Tracy bought him back home from the pet shop. I knew something was up from the look on her face. Anyway, there was Squeaky, a tiny kitten that squeaked rather than miaowed - hence his name. He arrived in the house in November, and has caused happy chaos since.
He was a wonderful little ball of fluff who eventually grew up into a fine figure of a cat:
Squeaky isn't a big cat, more a 'normal' cat, so he has always seemed a little small around our other cats. However his courage is huge. At the age of 13 weeks, he attacked a cock pheasant in the garden, got both front legs around the bird's neck and chewed. He was less than one quarter the size of the bird... He hung on for thirty seconds before being beaten back.
At an age of maybe 2 he followed me while I was putting scrap metal into the van, and unfortunately lost half of his tail when the back gate swung closed on it after a gust of wind. The poor thing. Since then he has had severe tail envy and always sniffs our other cat's tails, and seemed particularly envious of Gryff's.
Squeaky want's to be boss cat, so while gryff was small, he was able to be as bossy as he could want:
However as Gryff grew up, he occasionally turned and explained to Squeaky that he had had enough. They were playing here, but both were semi-serious about showing who was boss:
